Sharon Osbourne Opens Up About Depression Struggles

Rock matriarch Sharon Osbourne has been taking medication for the past 16 years to battle serious bouts of depression.

Ozzy Osbourne's wife made the revelation during a discussion on her U.S. daytime show The Talk on Monday (03Nov14), hours after it was revealed that actor/comedian Wayne Brady had suffered a "complete breakdown" on his 42nd birthday in June (14) as a result of his secret battle with the illness.

Discussing Brady's confession, Osbourne's co-host Aisha Tyler said, "I'm so proud of him for coming out and saying this because people with depression, if you have the bravery, if you can do it, it's so important to speak up because so many people suffer in silence and they feel alone... "So many people are going through this. We have to destigmatise it and make sure everyone knows it's a disease like anything (else)..."

Tyler's plea for others with similar conditions to speak out prompted Osbourne to address her own low-key struggle, much to the surprise of her fellow presenters.

Interrupting Tyler, she said, "Excuse me, 16 years I've been on medication. "Nobody's ever asked (me about it)... Some days are better than others, and some days you feel like you just want to pull the sheets over your head and just stay in your bed and not do a damn thing, except rot."
