Ben Affleck congratulated friend George Clooney on his wedding day and explained why he wasn't in attendance on Saturday, Sept. 27
Sorry, George! Ben Affleck congratulated his longtime friend George Clooney on his big wedding day — but not in person. The actor joked about not attending the Venice, Italy nuptials during an interview with ET Canada on Saturday, Sept. 27.
"Yeah. Some people have to work and everybody else gets to be in Venice," the 42-year-old teased. "But [George] found a great girl and I’m happy for them. I wish them the best."
Affleck has been in NYC promoting his upcoming thriller Gone Girl, and attended its premiere at Lincoln Center on Friday.
Clooney and his new bride Amal Alamuddin, meanwhile, have been celebrating Saturday night at the Aman Canal Grande hotel with Affleck's BFF Matt Damon.
Clooney, 53, and Affleck each won an Oscar last year for Argo. Another thing in common? Jennifer Garner's hubby is currently suiting up as Batman for the 2015 flick Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Clooney, of course, did the same in 1997's Batman & Robin.
